I wanted to share a little about my experience as a student-athlete at Salisbury University by walking you through a day in my life during the volleyball season. Monday is my busiest day of the week. I wake up at 8:00am and get ready for the day ahead. I go to the training room for treatments at 8:40am. I sprained and fractured my ankle in the beginning of the season, so I go in every morning for rehab. After treatments are over, I head to my Media Design & Layout class across campus. This class is a long one and goes from 10:00-11:50am. Luckily it is my only class of the day! I then have a captains meeting at 1:00pm with the coaches so I typically will go to the locker room and eat whatever food is in there for lunch (usually a phenomenal pb&j) while working on some homework. After the captains meeting, I have a team lift at 2:00pm in the gym. Once lift is over, I have a positional meeting with my coach in his office where we go over film from the previous weekend. These meetings typically only last for about 20 minutes. By now it’s around 3:20pm and I go to the locker room to hang out a little before getting ready for practice. At 3:30pm I get my practice stuff on and head to the training room to get my ankle taped. At 4:00pm, I go into the gym for extra reps. Official practice starts at 4:30pm and goes until 6:30pm. After practice, I go to the training room again to ice my ankle for 10 minutes. After icing and changing, I head over to the dining hall to get dinner with my teammates. This is definitely the highlight of my day! I head home at around 7:30pm and shower. I typically spend the rest of my night doing homework or hanging out with my roommates. Despite the business, I am so grateful to be a student athlete. I love getting to be surrounded by my teammates every day and working towards a common goal together. It is more than worth it!
